Cleaning Kitchen Worktops
In order to keep your kitchen worktops as hygienic and clean as possible you should ensure that you wipe them down as often as possible. They should be wiped down before and after use and sometimes during use if you are dealing with raw meat. This will prevent any harmful bacteria building up on the work surfaces. This can be done using just warm water and a little drop of washing up liquid. There is no need to use specialist chemical cleaners.
One of the biggest points to remember when trying to keep the kitchen worktops clean is to clean them quickly. If you spill anything on them, wipe them instantly. If you cut raw food on them, wipe up straight away. This means that the bacteria does not have chance to spread and also reduces the chances of staining. Again these can be wiped using a cloth, warm water and a little washing up liquid. You may need to rub it harder if the spill has already stained. If you have a timber kitchen worktop you should ensure that you treat it as required.
If you have a laminate kitchen worktop then you should still wipe up any spillages as soon as possible, however stains are less likely. Granite and Marble kitchen worktops are quite hardwearing and stain resistant; however you should make sure that you do not use abrasive cloths when wiping the worktops.
Finally, as well as cleaning the kitchen worktops, ensure that you chose the tiles and surrounding areas as well as bacteria on these could soon spread onto the kitchen worktops.
